[Class 38 (iv)] In a regulating arrangement for A.C. stage and similar lighting installations in which the load is connected to A.C. supply through a pair of reversely connected discharge gaps in series with a choking coil, the gas or vapour discharge gaps are controlled so that when a potential is supplied to the lamps so that they are fully illuminated, the discharge gaps are conducting throughout the half waves of A.C. By this means flickering of the lamps is eliminated throughout the control range.
