Abstract
408,175. Arc-rupturing in switches. SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.- GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Nov. 13, 1933, No. 31621. Convention date, Nov. 11, 1932. [Class 38 (v).] The delivery of compressed gas or vapour to the arc is so controlled as to be interrupted or prevented in the periods between consecutive zero-points in the A.C. cycle, by the provision in the supply pipes of cut-off devices controlled in synchronism with the arc-current. The devices may consist of one or more valves which are only opened over the zero-points. The arrangement enables small blast-pressures to be used, as the action of the arc at current-maxima has not to be overcome.
