[Classes 38 (ii) and 38 (iv).] Boosting by s t a t i c transformers.-A R÷ntgen-ray tube E is supplied from series - connected secondaries S<1>, S3 of two transformers mounted on parts A, B respectively of a common core C. The primary associated with S<1> is in two parts P<1>, P<2> each provided with tapping- switches SP<1>, SP<2> and is supplied from the mains. The primary P<3> associated with secondary S<3> is connected through a reversing-switch RS across an adjustable portion of P<2> when contacts SC<1>, SC<2>, SC<3> are bridged, so that an adjustable bucking or boosting voltage can be induced in the secondary S3. When the primary P<3> is disconnected the secondary S<3> acts as a series choke. The filament of the tube E is supplied from a tapped part S<2> of the secondary S<1>. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 8907/05, [Class 38, Electricity, Regulating &c.].
