Abstract

475,658. Transformers. FRIES, E. May 23, 1936, No. 14655. [Class 38 (ii)] An arrangement for supplying a single phase load from three-phase supply lines A, B, C comprises a magnetic core having on one limb 8 a winding 9 connected across lines A and C and on another limb 1 a single phase transformer having its primary 2 connected between line B and a tapping on winding 9. A third unwound limb 6 is provided, and the secondary winding 3 of the single phase transformer may be connected in series with a choke 4 arranged about an air gap varied by means of a movable limb 5 as described in Specification 454,950. An air gap 10 may be provided in the limb 8 and a condenser may be connected between lines A and B, or, alternatively, the line B may be connected to a tapping on the winding 2, a condenser being connected between the end of winding 2 and line A. The apparatus may be made suitable for working on different voltages by provision of tappings on winding 2 for connection to line B.
