Abstract

352,940. Regulating transformers. KOCH & STERZEL AKT.-GES. and FISCHER, F. J., 40, Zwickauerstrasse, Dresden, Germany. April 8, 1930, No. 11209. [Class 38 (ii).] In a regulating transformer in which the primary and secondary windings 15, 12 are arranged respectively on relatively movable core parts 13, 11, and a series of short-circuited auxiliary windings 18, 19, 20 is provided to co-operate with the secondary in the low voltage e positions to reduce inductive voltage drop, the auxiliary windings are disposed in slots formed in an extension of the core 13 which forms a return path for the flux when the core 11 carrying the secondary is in the low voltage positions. Compensating windings 16, 17 arranged and connected as shown are provided. In order that the transformer may be used for supplying both positive and negative boost, a switch 22 for reversing the energization of the primary winding is provided, the switch being interconnected with the means for shifting the cores so that the primary connections and the core-shifting means are reversed simultaneously when the cores are in the minimum voltage position.
