Abstract

379,469. Regulating transformers. FERRANTI, Ltd. and PORTER, G. L., Hollinwood, Lancashire. July 16, 1931, No. 20436. [Class 38 (ii).] A transformer with means for tap-changing on load is combined with a booster autotransformer so arranged that the winding common to both primary and secondary circuits of the latter carries only the difference between the current in the main circuit and the current carried by the tap-changing switches. In the arrangement shown, an untapped portion s of the secondary winding of the transformer is connected to a point g on the autotransformer winding h, j, one end of which is permanently connected to the end of a tapped portion f of the secondary winding, while the other end of the autotransformer winding is connected to the tapchanging switch e.
