Abstract
266,376. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Brand, F. F.). Feb. 19, 1926, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Transformers.-In an auto transformer in which the turns of the main winding are distributed along the core to avoid high potential between adjacent turns, there is provided an auxiliary winding comprising two sections connected in series opposition, the sections being arranged in close inductive relation to the common and series portions respectively of the main winding, so as to reduce reaction between the common and series portions by neutralizing the leakage flux. In the arrangement shown, the main winding 12 comprises two parallel connected sections, the circuit of higher voltage being connected between the mid point 15 and the two ends 13, 14 which are at earth potential. The circuit of lower voltage is connected between the two ends and two interconnected tapping points 16, 17. The auxiliary winding comprises sections 18 in close inductive relation to the common portions of the main winding, and a section 19 in close inductive relation to the series portions of the main winding, the potential of the auxiliary winding being determined by a connection 20 to the main winding. Terminals 21, 22 may be provided on the auxiliary winding from which a limited amount of current may be taken for lighting &c., and if desired, a second auxiliary winding, which may be used to exite a synchronous condenser, may be provided.
