Abstract

162,394. Berry, F. E. Jan. 29, 1920. Regulating transfomers.-In an arrangement comprising a main transformer A, a smaller auxiliary transformer B, and a supplementary winding a inductively associated with the main transformer so as directly to influence one of the windings e of the auxiliary transformer for voltage-regulating purposes, the winding e is connected to the winding a through a third transformer controlled by a regulating-switch d. A second switch f may also be provided for reversing the connections between the winding e and the third transformer. In the arrangement shown, the third transformer comprises a single autotransformer winding b. In a modification, the third transformer has two windings, a primary winding in series with the winding a and a secondary winding with tappings controlled by the switch d. The secondary winding of the transformer B may be connected in series with the secondary winding, as shown, or with the primary winding of the transformer A.
