622,462. Transformers. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Feb. 8, 1946, No. 4034. Convention date, Feb. 17, 1945. [Class 38 (ii)] A voltage-regulating transformer has equal and opposed auxiliary windings 6 and 7, closely coupled with the primary winding 3 and the secondary winding 4 respectively, and connected in series with a part of the secondary winding in the output circuit. A tuned condenser 5 is connected across the secondary winding. The core has a gapped magnetic shunt 2. The resultant of windings 6 and 7 is proportional to the leakage reactance voltage. The tendency is for the output voltage to remain constant with changes of load or of primary voltage. The coils 4 and 7 may be combined in a tapped single coil. Frequency or power-factor compensating means and harmonic filtering means may be provided. Specification 616,428 is referred to.
