Abstract
661,613. Transformer supply systems for X-ray tubes. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL, Ltd., NEMET, A. A., and LAMBERT, R. A. May 24, 1949, No. 13850/49. Class 38 (iv). To permit independent control of the H.T. and L.T. currents supplied to an X-ray tube 8 or the like, whilst avoiding the necessity of a separate L.T. supply transformer, the H.T. is provided by two (preferably identical) H.T. transformers 4, 5 having their primary windings connected in series and fed from a source 12, 13 through a regulating transformer 1, as shown. The secondary windings of transformers 4, 5 are also connected in series and one of these windings is tapped near its outer end to provide a low-voltage section 6 for supplying heating current to the cathode of the tube. By this arrangement the L.T. voltage induced in section 6 is dependent only on the tapping point 2 and is unaffected by variation of the tapping point 3 by which the H.T. voltage is controlled.
