611,810. Control systems for consumption apparatus. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and DUNHAM, C. R. May 8, 1946, No. 13959. [Class 38 (iv)] Inductive control.-Stimulaneous control of a plurality of parallel connected A.C. load circuits A, B, C, which may comprise cold cathode discharge lamps 1-6, is effected by passing a variable D.C. or lower frequency A.C. through series connected saturation controlling windings 23, 24, 25 on two-part chokes 17, 18, 19 in each load circuit. The chokes are arranged to avoid feedback into the controlling circuit. In a modified arrangement each discharge lamp is supplied by two transformers connected respectively between each electrode and earth. In a further modification, each transformer has an additional core limb arranged for saturation by a control winding and chokes are not used. Additional control windings on one or more of the chokes or transformers may provide independent control of one or more circuits or determine a fixed current relationship.
