Abstract

539,311. Gas-blast switches. RUDENBERG, R. March 28, 1940, No. 5605. [Class 38 (v)] In addition to the flow of gas through the nozzle-shaped fixed contact 2, whereby the arc 13 is driven through the nozzle 14 and lengthened, a further blast directed through one or more apertures 11 in contact 2 in a direction towards the axis of tube 1 and, if desired, such that the flow in the nozzle rotates about that axis. Gas may be supplied from a reservoir to the space 10 above diaphragm 5 before the actual contactseparation and through the, preferably short, pipe 12.
