Abstract
531,650. Gas-blast switches. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE. July 28, 1939, No. 21947. Convention date, Nov. 17, 1938. [Class 38 (v)] In a nozzle-contact, gasblast switch in which the contacts d, e are shunted by a protective resistance i which is introduced into the circuit by an auxiliary spark gap h in parallel with the contacts, the latter and the gapelectrodes are arranged one behind the other in the blast-direction, and the gapelectrode g<2> which is situated furthest from the narrowest cross-section of the nozzlecontact d, is built as a structure which throttles the presture in the outflow channel m, as by being formed as a nozzle, whereby extinction of the gaparc due to a recovery voltage of steep wave form after the switching-arc is extinguished, is improved. The switch is of the general character set out in Specification 492,944.
