Abstract

610,983. Gas-blast switches. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., WILCOX, T. W., and ROXBURGH, A. April 18, 1946, No. 11976. [Class 38 (v)] In a gas-blast circuit-breaker with a series isolator, a blast head 1 shunted by a non-linear resistance 2, has a chamber 3 with entries for the exhaust gases from two sets of interrupting contacts. This chamber has an outlet designed to direct the exhaust gases on to the isolating break 4 to assist in the extinction of any arc formed on breaking the residual current.
