Abstract

607,037. Gas-blast switches. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE. Jan. 23, 1946, No. 2274. Convention date, Jan. 27, 1945. [Class 38 (v)] In a gas-blast circuit-breaker an anti-restrike resistance e is introduced by a spark-gap having an electrode d2 slidable in a guide g against a spring, so as automatically to increase the spark-over voltage to a ring-electrode d1, during interruption of the arc, in response to an increase in pressure in an exhaust-chamber f, and finally to restore the gap when interruption is complete. The electrode d2 is connected to a fixed nozzle a1 having an annular contact-part a2 slidable against a spring b on an extension thereof. In Fig. 2 (not shown), the spark-gap is fixed, but its spark-over voltage increases when a spring- loaded throttle-element closes, causing an increased pressure in the exhaust-chamber.
