538,306. Composite boards. HITCHINS, W. G. Jan. 17, 1940, No. 1014. Drawings to Specification. [Class 145 (ii)] A composite board for internal walls and ceilings of buildings consists of two facing members maintained in spaced relationship by pieces of veneer on edge in the form of separate cylinders or other geometrical shapes packed closely together. The shapes are formed by bending round a strip of veneer of the desired width and securing its ends together by glueing,. stitching or tacking. The most suitable material for them is single wood veneer with the grain running perpendicularly to the face of the block,. or three-ply with the grain of two of the three plies running in such direction. Straight or wavy runs of veneer on edge may be used between the shaped separators. The board is made by arranging a glued wooden frame on one of the facing boards, packing the glued spacing members in position and superimposing the other facing board. If the facing boards are plaster boards a fibre strip is first secured to the frame and the plaster board secured by adhesive to the fibre. Specification 477.032, [Group X], is referred to.
