463,611. Laminated wood sheets. KAHR, G. Sept. 19, 1936, No. 25560. Convention date, Oct. 19, 1935. [Class 145 (ii)] [Also in Group X] A laminated wood sheet suitable for walls, wall-coverings, doors, &c., consists of parallel rods 1 between outer layers of veneer, plywood, &c., the fibres of the rods running substantially parallel with the plane of the sheet and being cut at intervals by transverse incisions 7 extending from the sides of the rods, to obviate warping due to expansion.. The incisions may extend alternately from opposite sides of the rods or, as shown, in succession from all four sides, and may be filled up, for example with a binding agent such as glue. The edge members 5 are provided with similar incisions 8 on the inner faces only, and the ends of the rods are tongued into edge members 4 ; the edge members may however be omitted, in which case the edges of the plate at the ends of the rods are preferably covered by veneer &c. strips. Spaces 2 separate the rods and may be filled with sound-insulating material such as paper-board strips. Alternatively, the rods may be in contact with one another, their sides being grooved over nearly the whole width to form spaces between them.
