[Class 145 (ii)] [Also in Group X] A composite sheet, panel, door or partition consists of two cover plates and an inner layer of unitary or composite wooden elements, for example simple wood strips, the grain of which, or of at least one of the components of which runs perpendicular to the cover plates, each element being separated from adjacent elements by air spaces. The cover plates may be, for example, of veneer, three-plywood, wood fibre board, or the material known under the Registered Trade Mark " Eternit." Fig. 1 shows a form in which the elements forming the central layer consists of plywood or composite laths formed of a central long-cut lamination 2 and cross-cut laminations 3, the grain of the latter being perpendicular to the cover plate 1. Air spaces 7 separate the elements. Fig. 2 shows a form in which the inner layer elements consist of cross-cut blocks 2 with long-cut strips 3 at the sides. Fig. 3 shows elements each formed of two vertically-spaced long-cut laths 8 with a cross-cut strip 3 at each side, this construction providing air-chambers 9 in the elements in addition to the spaces 7 between them.
