582,430. Composite building strips. NEUMANN, F. H. Jan. 10, 1944, No. 457. [Class 87 (i)] [Also in Group VIII] A composite building strip for floors, weatherboarding, linings &c. comprises a surface layer 1 of wood, a middle layer 2 of sound or heat insulating material and a bottom layer 3 of nail holding material such as undressed timber all joined together by any suitable means such as glue, nails, screws, bolts, dowels &c. with the edges of the individual layers non-flush with one another so as to provide interlocking tongued and grooved means to fit complementary means on adjacent strips. The edges of the individual layers may also be tongued and grooved as at 6, 7 to interlock and one or both of the outer layers may be treated to resist moisture or insects.
