[Class 140] A building unit for floors &c. consists of a continuous core 1 of heat- or sound-insulating material covered on both sides with strips 2 of wood or other nail-holding material which break joint with one another, the whole being secured together by nails 3 or other mechanical fastenings so that each strip of each outer layer is joined to two strips in the other outer layer. The inner or outer surface of the wood strips may be grooved as at 10, and their edges may be bevelled, rabbetted or tongued and grooved.
