[Class 20(ii)] Pre-formed composite panels, each including an outer skin of thin sheet metal having skirt-portions along the side edges, are joined to form a roof or wall by a channel-section member forming part of the roof or wall framing, into which the collateral skirt-portions of adjacent panels are clamped together without perforation and to which the panels are mechanically connected independently of the sheet metal clamping. The panels, comprising plywood bases 2, layers of wall-boarding &c. 3 and thin sheet metal outer skins 4, have the skirt portions 4a of the metal skins sandwiched between clamping strips 5 located in a channelsection member 6 which is screwed to the roof &c. frame member 9 and which has flanges 6a for supporting the panels and for receiving securing screws 7. The clamping strips 5 are thrust into gripping engagement with the skirt portions 4a by screws 8 having locknuts 8a. Sealing composition 17 may be applied. According to a modification, angle sections are secured to the edges of the panel bases, the skirtportions being sandwiched between adjacent flanges which are located within a channel-section and secured by clamping screws. In a further modification, angle sections 14, Fig. 3, with beaded edges 14a are secured to the panel edges and the skirt portions 4a are sandwiched between adjacent flanges, which are then pressed into interlocking engagement with bends 15a formed on a channel-section 15 having clamping draw bolts 16.
