Abstract

519,098. Powdered-fuel engines. HANNOVERSCHE MASCHINENBAU AKT.-GES. VORM. G. EGESTORFF (HANOMAG). Oct. 27, 1938, No. 31052. Convention date, Jan. 17. [Class 7 (ii)] For supplying dust fuel to an admission chamber or working space of an engine cylinder, a compressor 0 which draws in air through a port G and valve T and receives part of the air compressed in the engine cylinder from a passage H supplies highly compressed air through a valve F into the admission chamber or working space, the air carrying with it a mixture of dust fuel and air drawn from a mixing-chamber R. The crankshaft L of the compressor may rotate at several times the speed of the engine crankshaft and the compressor may supply additional combustion air through a mixing-chamber D to the cylinder before the working stroke has ended. The air drawn in through the port C passes around the outside of the mixing-chamber and cools the same. The compressor may be arranged adjacent the cylinder in other positions than that shown.
