495,371. Valves. GAHAGAN, G. R. March 11, 1937, No. 7196. [Class 7 (vi)] The inlet of combustible mixture or air to a two-stroke engine is controlled by a short sleeve valve 10 operating in a recess 7<1> formed in the cylinder and cylinder head, and actuated from an overhead shaft 14 by means of an eccentric 17. The ports 11 in the valve, and the passages 6, 6<1> leading thereto, may be arranged tangentially; also the passages 6, 6<1> may be inclined upwardly so as to direct the mixture or air against the concaved cylinder head 9. Packing-rings are fitted at 32, 33.
