Abstract

527,621. Two-stroke engines. TAYLOR, C. B. July 19, 1939, No. 20942. [Class 7 (ii)] In a two-stroke engine having opposed pistons 2, 3 working in a cylinder 1 and driving a crankshaft through rocker levers 11 there are separate ports for the inlet of scavenging air and combustible mixture, both ports being controlled by one piston and the air inlet port 14 opening before the mixture port 15. The space behind each piston is utilized as a pump and is sealed from the crank space by a member 13 around the pivot of the rocker lever. Compressed air or mixture passes from the pump to the inlet ports through the pipes shown.
