Abstract

320,002. Fowler, C. H., and Cooper, H. Jan. 14, 1929. Two-stroke-cycle engines; pumps; crank chambers; casings.-In engines with oppositelmoving pistons, the air pump f is arranged between or at the end of the cylinders. The pump comprises a single-acting piston k and a doubleacting piston driven off one crank. The pump chambers are formed by removable liners g<3>, h<3> on which the valve boxes g, h are supported. The air is drawn through the crank casings into the pumps and delivered past valves g<2>, h<2>, h<20> and outlets f<2>, Fig. 4, to long passages f<3> formed by the engine casing a, the cylinder inlet ports cornmunicating with these passages. The chamber in the valve box h is common to the contiguous pump chamber.
