445,602. Air - compressor valves. MACKENZIE, D. G., 17, Northbrook Road, Ilford, London. July 12, 1934, No. 3982. Divided out of 424,256, [Group XXVII]. [Class 8 (i)] [See also Group XXVII] Admission ports in the head of a pump piston are controlled by an apertured valve plate actuated from the connecting-rod by which the piston is connected to a crank-shaft. The Figure shows a pump applied to an internalcombustion engine. The lower part of the power cylinder 2 of a two-stroke cycle engine which may be of the opposed-piston type is surrounded by a rectangular air pump 4 having admission slots 9 in the piston 5, controlled by slotted plates 10 slidably mounted on the piston. Air enters the pump from a chamber 6 disposed below the pump 4 and separated from the crank chamber 7 by a partition 8. The plates 10 are actuated through links 14 and rods 12 connected to auxiliary crank-shafts 13.
