Abstract
244,065. Worthington Pump & Machinery Corporation, (Assignees of Jorgensen, O. E.). Dec. 3, 1924, [Convention date].. Valves, arrangement of. - A double-acting pump is provided at each end with a passage leading to a common rotary valve having segments which connect the ends with common suction and discharge cylinders alternately. Two such cylinders may be disposed in line, with simultaneous discharge strokes to a common discharge. The pump may supply the scavenging air for internal-combustion engines. Fig. 1 shows cylinders A, A<1> separated by a partition a, their pistons being driven through a common piston rod by a crank-shaft G driven through toothed wheels 10, 11 from the crank-shaft H of an internal-combustion engine. An air inlet chamber I surrounding the cylinders connects with inlet passages K, K<1>, which communicate through the valve chambers with passages k, l, k<1> l<1>, leading to the cylinder ends. The rotary valves r, r<1> make one revolution for two revolutions of the pump crank-shaft, and are driven from a cam or other shaft M of the. engines, and connected by bell cranks 13.
