Abstract
183,229. Marks, E. C. R., (Akt.-Ges. f³r Tiefbohrtechnik und Maschinenbau vorm. Trauzl & Co.). April 18, 1921. Regulating.-Additional charging-air and fuelinjection air are separately compressed in the spaces 4, 11 respectively of a pump 3 and supplied to the cylinders 1, 2, which fire alternately through a pipe 6 and a valve-controlled pipe (not shown). According to a modified construction, the pump may be of two diameters; it is mounted between the cylinders and compresses, on the upstroke, the fuel-injection air and the whole of the charging-air. Part of the air in the space 4 may be transferred to the pump space supplying injection air. By suitably setting a valve 12, the space 4 may be put out of operation. In the modified construction referred to above, a reservoir and suitable valves are located between the pump spaces so that the cylinder of two diameters may act as a stage compressor.
