Abstract

507,533. Powdered - fuel engines. HANNOVERSCHE MASCHINENBAU-AKT. GES. VORM. G. EGESTORFF (HANOMAG). Oct. 27, 1938, No. 31051. Convention date, Jan. 10. [Class 7 (ii)] A'mixture of powdered fuel and air is drawn from a mixing chamber A and injected into the combustion chamber during or at the end of the compression stroke by compressed air supplied through a passage N or an ejector and valves G and F. The valve G is in the form of a sleeve embracing the spindle D of the valve F and is opened by a bell-crank lever I against the action of a spring L. The valve F is kept closed by a spring S until the valve G is partly opened and engages a collar R on the spindle D and opens the valve F. In a modification, the valves G and F are on a single spindle and are opened by the air pressure on a collar at the inlet side of the valve G. In a further modification, an ejector may be used to supply the powdered fuel from the mixing chamber to the space between the valves F and G and the valves F and G are. opened by compressed air which blows the fuel into the combustion chamber.
