487,122. Street lamps. ZEISS IKON AKT.-GES. Oct. 23, 1937, No. 29009. Convention date, Oct. 26, 1936. [Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iv)] An electric-light fitting for road, pavement, and facade lighting consists of a number of lamps accommodated in a common housing each with a reflector R<1>, R<2>, or R<3> producing a field of illumination 1, 2, or 3 elongated in the direction of the road, the fields of illumination being parallel and only slightly overlapping, Fig. 1. The facade lighting 2 and 3 can be switched off leaving only the road illuminated 1. Reflectors R<1>, R<2>, R<3> may form a single body which may also consist of two symmetrical halves abutting against each other or spaced a little apart, Fig. 4, to allow room for the lamp holders. A sodium or mercury vapour or other source of light of great luminosity may be used for illuminating the roadway while sources which do not give the colour distortions of the latter may be used for lighting the facades and pavements.
