Abstract
458,037. Lamps for illuminating number-plates &c. THOMPSON, J. L., 24, Werneth Hall Road, Oldham, and TAYLOR, H., 6, Northcombe Road, Davenport, Stockport. June 12, 1935, No. 16896. [Class 75 (iv)] A lamp having a tubular casing A with a slot through which light passes to illuminate a number plate B or the like, is provided with an inner transparent tube D which is silvered or otherwise rendered reflecting, except along the portion d adjacent to the slot in the outer tube. Additional slots a<1> may, however, be provided in the outer casing, and red windows may be provided or the inner tube at the corresponding places d may be coloured red instead of being silvered, so that red light may be projected rearwardly. A rubber or other resilient sleeve D <1>, or rubber washers, may be provided between the two tubes. The lamp may have a light source C at each end or, as shown in Fig. 4, a concave. reflector at one end. Other light sources may be provided at intermediate points. The outer tube may be formed in one with the number plate. The latter may have one lamp at the top and one at the bottom. The electric lamp holders C<1> are held in position by spring clips b<1>.
