Abstract

Vehicle lamps; mounting electric lamps in lanterns. - In a lamp suitable for use on a vehicle or for shop lighting an electric lamp bulb r is mounted on a universally adjustable member so that it may be moved along a line non-coincident with the axis of the main reflector a but passing through its focus, and the bulb is provided with a secondary translucent or reflecting shield such as t disposed internally or externally of the bulb and in front of the filament s so as to intercept the direct rays of light. The bulb r is carried by electrodes n, o secured to a plunger k slidably mounted in a tube j passing through a ball h which is supported by screws g inside a cylindrical member e mounted on the reflector a and provided with a dust-proof cover q. The plunger k may be adjusted by means of a grub screw u, or it may be operated from the driver's seat by means of Bowden wire mechanism. According to the Provisional Specification, one or more main reflectors may be used in conjunction with one or more bulbs, each having a secondary reflector, and the secondary reflector may intercept rays of light falling ou undesirable portions of the main reflector.
