Velcicle lamps.-In a vehicle lamp having an incandescent electric lamp bulb 3 with a horizontal transverse filament, a parabolic reflector 2 is arranged with its axis tilted downwards to such an extent that the upper rays of the cone of reflected light are below the upper rays of the cone of light projected by an aspherical lens 1. The lens may be tilted downwardly so that the upper rays of the projected cone of light are horizontal, and is of such curvature as to cause a sharp limitation of the intensity of the light towards the top. The portion 5 of the front glass may be adapted to increase the lateral dispersion, and horizontal prisms 6 are provided in order to illuminate the road immediately in front of the vehicle, the central portion of the front glass being plane. A spherical reflector 4 may be arranged to intercept, rays of light emitted rearwardly by the filament.
