[Class 75 (iv)] A lamp for the illumination of signs, looms, and like elongated areas comprises a central parabolic cylindrical reflector having at each end a light source at the common focus of a number of relatively inclined paraboloidal reflectors adapted to project light towards different remote areas of the field to be illuminated. In the form shown, light from two low voltage electric light bulbs 1, 2 is reflected by paraboloidal reflector parts 5 in directions 14 to the ends of the area, by paraboloidal reflector parts 6 in directions 15 to nearer portions of the area, and by cylindrical reflector parts 7 in directions 16 to the centre of the area. The paraboloidal reflector parts may be arranged step by step, or continuously, as a single reflector body, such as part of an envelope surface of paraboloids as described in Specification 318,147,[Class 75 (ii)]. The light sources 1, 2 may be adjusted vertically and horizontally so as to vary the longitudinal extent and transverse position of the illuminated field. The lamp is fitted with two inclined closure glasses 8 which may be given different optical properties in zones 9-11 corresponding to the beams passing therethrough.
