Abstract
149,978. Richardson, J. M. Aug. 28, 1919, [Convention date]. Vehicular lanterns. -In a vehicular headlight, the electric lamp bulb 6 is provided with a main filament 7 located substantially in the focus of the reflector 4 and with an auxiliary filament 8 preferably positioned above the main filament 7 and in a vertical transverse plane through the focus so that either filament may be employed according to the position of the switch 10. The front 15 of the bulb, preferably up to a plane passing through the focus of the reflector, is rendered translucent by coating, frosting, colouring, &c., or other means may be provided for screening those rays from the auxiliary filament which tend to strike the reflector forwardly of a vertical plane through the focus.
