Abstract

428,159. Changing signs. AUSTIN, S. T., 111, St. John's Road, Hoxton, and ELMAN, T. A., 25, Budge Row, Queen Victoria Street, both in London. April 24, 1934, No. 12288. [Class 3 (i)] In display devices of the type comprising an inclined transparent mirror on each side of which is disposed an object adapted to be illuminated in turn whereby the objects are seen respectively by reflection at the mirror and by direct viewing through the mirror, and appear to occupy the same position, a transparent mirror 27 is located between one object 26 and the inclined mirror 19 and a sheet of black or of mirrored glass 29 is placed below the mirror 19. The mirror 27 reduces the light intensity of the object 26 to bring it more nearly to that of the object 25, as the mirror is formed to reflect more light than it transmits. The sheet 29 is arranged parallel to the mirror 27, and is provided to give a foreground to the object 25 which is similar to that seen in front of the object 26 owing to a reflection of the glass window 2 being seen with the object 26. A flashing switch 22 lights the lamps 20 and 21 in succession. Translucent coloured or display panels 4, 5 may be provided, the former being lit intermittently by the lamp 21 or constantly by a separate lamp, and the latter lit constantly by a lamp 28.
