Abstract

308,053. Berry, H. H., and Painton, C. A. Feb. 20, 1928. Signs; name-plates and the like.-A sign for day and night use of the kind in which a prismatic reflector sheet directs daylight through a stencil &c., is provided with a source of light adapted to illuminate the stencil and throw light rearwardly above the stencil. Light from above passes through the prismatic glass sheet 1 to illuminate the stencil 2 by refraction and reflection. For night illumination, light from a lamp 5 illuminates the stencil and part passes through the prismatic glass and illuminates the wall 3. A mirror 6 below the lamp may have an opening 7 for lighting the window 4 and pavement. When the prismatic glass 1, Fig. 2, and stencil 2 are in juxtaposition, light from the lamp 5 and reflector 6 is reflected from the rear face of the prismatic sheet on to the wall 3.
