Abstract

Signs.-In a box sign of the type wherein a front stencil 1 is illuminated at night by a lamp 3 arranged at the focus of a shallow parabolic reflector 4, provision is also made for illuminating the stencil from the rear side by daylight. As shown, daylight is admitted by a sheet of prismatic glass 2, or alternatively by a sheet of plain glass, in which case the prismatic glass is placed in contact with the stencil. In Fig. 2 the reflector itself constitutes the casing, but in the form shown in Fig. 4 two boards 8 are added to form a sign of triangular shape. Larger signs may have more than one reflector; a strut 7 may be arranged to prevent the light from reaching the stencil directly.
