Abstract
433,810. Reflectors. STOCAL ENAMELS, Ltd., 202, Fazeley Street, Birming- ham, and GRAINGER, W. S., 358, Shobnall Street, Burton-on-Trent. May 1, 1934, No. 13050. [Class 97 (i)] Relates to light-reflecting units such as are used for reflex signs &c., each unit consisting of a glass body having at one end a convex refracting surface, the other end being either silvered to form a concave reflecting surface or provided with a metallic reflector. According to the invention, in order to obtain an intermittent or twinkling effect in the reflected light, one or other or each surface of the glass body, or the surface of the metallic reflector, is so formed that an intermittent occultation of the reflected light from the vision of an approaching observer results. As shown, the reflecting surface 10 is formed with a number of parallel grooves 10<b>. Alternatively these grooves may be in the form of a number of concentric circles, or they may be replaced by ribs. In another modification, parts of the surface 10 are matted, etched &c. to prevent or modify light reflection therefrom.
