Abstract
297,065. Burns, W. A. March 14, 1927. Signs. - Signs of the type in which a. front stencil is illuminated by a rearwardly-arranged reflector, are fitted with a tiltable reflector set at varying angles for use with natural or artificial light. In Fig. 2 of the Provisional drawings, the swinging member G has one plain silvered reflecting surface G<1> and a diffusing surface G<2>. During day. light, top light received on the surface G<1> is reflected through the stencil A. At night, light from the lamp H is received on the surface G<2> in the position K and diffused and reflected through the stencil. A modification deals with the utilization of top artificial lighting. Reference is made to clockwork or solenoid mechanism for switching over from daylight to artificial light and vice versa. In a further modification the diffusing screen G<2> is parabolic, and in another construction front and rear stencils are used for two-way vision, and the mirror plate is rotated continuously to produce a flashing sign. In a further construction the lamp is mounted between the two surfaces G<1>, G<2>. and in another form is mounted under a floor plate of fluted glass.
