409,866. Luminous signs; changing signs. SAWTELL, G. H., 7, Charles Lane, Sheffield. Feb. 17, 1933, No. 4872. [Classes 3 (i) and 3 (ii).] In a sign wherein a plate b, illuminated by a lamp g, is pierced with apertures c in the form of the advertisement or sign and translucent beads d, slightly greater than the apertures, are positioned over the apertures by a wire e passing through the beads, a flickering effect is obtained by forming facets h on the beads and supporting the beads wholly on the wire e clear of the edges of the apertures c so that light escapes around the beads. The lamp g may be provided with a mechanically or electrically actuated flicker device.
