Abstract
432,071. Changing signs. DEHN, F. B., 103, Kingsway, London.-(Reilly, F. C. ; 1457, Broadway, New York, U.S.A.) July 23, 1934, No. 21539. [Classes 3 (i) and 3 (ii)] In signs having letters &c. visible by day, and provided with means for rendering them visible by night, together with other substantially co - planar superposed letters &c. formed of lamps mounted on skeleton frames for viewing by night only, when illuminated alternately with the first legend, the lamps on the parts of the skeleton frames which cross the day-light legend are shielded to prevent their light illuminating the near-by parts of the daylight letters, &c. Fig. 3 shows a shield 9 covering the base half of the lamp 7<1>, a cut-out or moulded rubber &c. washer 10 being preferably interposed between the lamp and the base of the shield. The shields may fit loosely over rims 11 on the lamp sockets 12, which rims project through locating holes in the daylight sign character 5. The shields 9 may be of metal and act as reflectors, and they may be provided on all the lamps on the skeleton frames.
