[Classes 3 (i) and 3 (ii).] A sign comprises a casing supporting two reflectors arranged one in front of the other with openings in the form of lettering or the like cut in the front reflector, one or more light sources along one or opposite edges of the reflectors and a two-coloured light screen interposed between the light source and the reflectors so that the reflectors are lit up simultaneously in two colours and the front reflector forms a coloured background for the lettering or the like formed by the portions of the rear reflector exposed through the openings in the front reflector. As shown in Fig. 2, reflectors 2, 3, supported in a casing 1, are illuminated by light passing from a source 5 through interchangeable panels 7 of different colours so that the reflector 2 forms a coloured background for display matter comprising portions of the reflector 3 exposed through openings 4 in the reflector 2. In a modification, Fig. 3, the light source 5 is housed in a drum comprising a number of differently coloured panels 7, the drum being turned by hand or rotated continuously or intermittently by an electric motor through gearing 10. Fig. 5 shows another arrangement of drum screen in which two-coloured panels form vanes 11 so that the drum is rotated by hot air rising from the light source.
