Abstract

513,177. Periscopes. WEBSTER, W. J. April 4, 1938, No. 10193. [Class 97 (i)] In a device for indicating to the driver of a vehicle whether the rear light lamp is alight, rays from the lamp pass through an aperture in the back of the vehicle to a position inside observable by the driver. In the form shown, a tubular member 1 secured in the aperture contains an inclined mirror 5 held by a rubber block 6 and a tubular glass member 7, and is provided with a coloured or colourless glass window 9, which may be plane, lens-shaped or faceted. Light from a window 8a in the rear lamp 8 passes through a window lb in the member 1 and is reflected on to a mirror 13 easily visible by the driver. The rear lamp may be mounted to project light directly through the aperture in the rear of the vehicle.
