Abstract

402,952. Vehicle lamps. HOFFMAN, G., Cameo, West Avenue, Clacton-on-Sea. Jan. 14, 1933, No. 1338. [Class 75 (iv).] For the purpose of indicating to the occupant of a vehicle whether or not a lamp on the vehicle is alight, and of providing a luminous signal for other road users, a hood-like extension made of translucent or transparent material is adapted to be mounted on and readily removable from the lamp casing so as to project forwardly beyond the front glass or lens and be illuminated by light from the lamp. In the form shown in Fig. 2, a strip a of opalescent celluloid is secured by rivets c to a clip b having a pair of rearwardly extending projections b<1> adapted to engage the front d of the lamp, the hood formed by the strip a being open at the bottom. The clip is also formed with front tongues b<2> which pass through slots in the strip a and engage the bezel of the front glass or lens c. Alternatively, the projections b<1> and the tongues b<2> may be made separately and secured to the clip b by means of the rivets c. In the form shown in Fig. 5, the strip a of white or tinted celluloid is sprung, cemented, or otherwise secured in a flange j which is provided with openings j<2>, is cut away at the bottom, and is formed integrally with the screwed bezel ring k.
