Abstract
347,341. Vehicle rear lamps and reflex reflectors. BECK, F. J., 134, Culford Road, De Beauvoir Town, London. Feb. 8, 1930, No. 4280. [Class 75 (iv).] In a combined rear lamp and reflex reflector for cycles and other road vehicles of the kind comprising a tubular bodv a containing a source of light and having a red convex lens b at one end and a concave reflector c at the other end, the length of the tubular body is less than the focal length of the lens and approximately equal to the focal length of the reflector. The source of light may comprise an adjustable electric lamp bulb, supplied from an accumulator or other external source or from a battery i, Fig. 2, inside a casing h over which is frictionally fitted a neck g inclined at about 60 to the body a, or it may comprise a neon tube, or an oil or acetylene flame. In the case of a flame illuminant the top of the body a is provided with a ventilation opening surmounted by a hood, and the reflector c is made of silvered glass, or of chromium-plated or other stainless metal, or is provided with a thin clear glass or other transparent and non-inflammable cover. The body a may be fitted with transparent side windows, with or without co-operating reflectors, to provide lateral beams of light adapted, for example, to illuminate a number plate.
