Abstract

482,063. Vehicle lamps. MACKINTOSH, W. R. June 23, 1937, No. 1916. [Class 75 (iv)] A lamp, adapted to be mounted underneath a vehicle so as to project forwardly a non-dazzling beam of light, comprises a reflector B, with or without an associated lens E, mounted at the rear end of a tubular casing L for bringing light from an electric light bulb A to a, first focus F<3>, a lens D in the middle of the casing then bringing the light to a second focus F<2>, and a further lens C at the front end of the casing finally bringing the light to a third focus F<1> in front of the casing. The casing may be in the form of a circular cylinder throughout its length, or it may be circular at its rear end with its width diverging forwardly so that it is oval at its front end, this latter allowing the diffusion of laterally spreading rays which are not focused by the lenses. The casing is fitted with a hinged glazed front cover G, and is secured to the body of the vehicle by screwed studs J.
