225,558. Ryan, W. D'A. Nov. 28, 1923, [Convention date]. Vehicle lamps.-In a vehicle lamp a bulb 16 is mounted substantially at the focus of a shallow parabolic glass or metal reflector 12 of long focal length so as to project beyond the forward periphery of the housing 11 and is enclosed by an outwardly bulging lens 18 so that, in addition to the concentrated beam of light reflected forwardly direct rays are emitted forwardly, radially and slightly rearwardly so as to illuminate the sides of the road and the forward part of the vehicle. The reflector 12, which may be slightly downwardly inclined, may be replaced by a Mangin mirror.
