Vehicle lamps; lantern obturators; mounting electric lamps in lanterns.-In a vehicle lamp of the kind provided with an obturator or mask e located in front of the reflector and with a forwardly disposed projector lens d for projecting a substantially flat-topped beam of light, the casing a is formed in two parts a<1>, a<2> secured together by a hinge a<3>, the front part a<1> is provided with an aperture j in one or both of its sides, a plain glass division k is disposed rearwardly of the apertures, and the rear part a<2> carries a lens reflector b and an electric lamp bulb c, the latter being universally mounted on a hollow rod c<2> slidable in a ball c<3>. The inside of the casing may be polished to act as a reflector, the lens d may be masked as at m, and the reflector b may be blacked or masked with an advertising design.
