Abstract

217,374. Smith, F. B. April 13, 1923. Lighting, systems of; vehicle lamps.-Vehicles are provided with a combination of two lamps, one, B, adapted to project light forwardly of the vehicle and the other E, to project light, comparable in strength with that of the first, rearwardly of the vehicle. The lamp E may also be arranged to project light forwardly as shown to the point D so as to prevent any contrast in illumination between the part of the road between the two lamps and that illuminated by the lamp B. For this purpose the lamp E may be constructed as shown in Fig. 2 with a reflecting partition G and reflectors J, H so that light is projected rearwardly through a lens K and in a forward and downward direction through a lens L.
